Corporate Profile

Glacier Creek Contracting Ltd. and Glacier Creek Pacific Contracting Ltd. (collectively “GCCL”) are both general contracting companies owned and operated by Eric Prall. GCCL is involved in the construction of both residential and commercial projects within the province of British Columbia. The majority of the companies’ projects have been the Whistler/Pemberton area, where both the owner and his key staff have made their homes since 1993. Eric partners with local sub-trades to deliver award winning, state of the art homes and projects.

GCCL is a ‘Certified Building Envelope Renovator’ and a “Built Green Certified Builder”. These initiatives have been so successful that Eric has created another company, Glacier Pacific Insulation Ltd., to keep up with the demand for superior insulation services required by these initiatives. Glacier Pacific Insulation Ltd.  is a  ‘Certified Spray Foam Insulation Applicator’, but does all types of insulation.

Glacier Creek Contracting has managed over $175 M worth of construction and built over 1400 units varying from single family homes to multi-residential concrete towers.  Attached, you will find a brief list of construction projects current and completed.  For the past 12 years Glacier Creek has teamed up with the Whistler Housing Authority and the Resort Municipality of Whistler to create affordable price restricted housing developments for residents who live and work in Whistler, many of them recognized with Awards.

The company makes it a priority to use a ‘teamwork’ approach on projects to ensuring that the entire construction group, including all sub-trades, are working towards the successful conclusion to any development. The company relies heavily on technological tools to maximize its efficiency to plan, schedule, budget, track, and communicate both internally and externally. The reliance on new technology, mixed with tried and true construction techniques and materials guarantees a successful build. These professional development practices have resulted in numerous awards.

Eric’s experience in construction is quite extensive.  The following is a brief summary of his background:

  • Involvement in the construction industry began in 1977
  • Experience was earned by working in a family construction business performing large-scale projects. The scope of work generally included sub-trade work including concrete formwork, masonry and pre-cast concrete erection. In addition to this sub-trade work, general contracting and project management was performed.
  • Work began in the field initially, with concrete formwork, then to combinations of concrete, masonry and pre-cast high rise buildings, followed by wood frame buildings.
  • Experience was earned in estimating, scheduling, project co-ordination, general administration, budget pricing, design input and project management at an early stage of his career. This management involved an office staff of 5 to 7 people with a peak of 150 direct employees in the field. All sub-trade labor was in addition to this.
  • Work locations were throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia until 1993.From 1993 onward, all work has been in British Columbia.
  • The types of projects consisted of strip malls, schools, care facilities, seniors projects, wood frame apartments and townhouses, structural steel buildings, low rise and high rise concrete structures up to 22 floors. Extensive experience with precast concrete buildings (in 1998, Eric and his father were successful in erecting a record 1 million square feet of precast .
  • Eric is in a unique situation where he has extensive experience as a sub-trade, a general contractor / manager and a developer. Because of this hands-on experience he can easily relate to matters of any one of these parties and can often foresee difficulties well in advance, enabling him to work with these parties towards a resolution that is successful for everyone.
  • After settling in Whistler, Eric decided to help the Whistler Housing Authority meet its goals, as a result Glacier Creek is the now their preferred builder, having completed some $75 million worth of construction with them.
  • Glacier Creek also built about 40% of the Whistler Athlete’s Village for the 2010 Olympics bringing them in on time and on budget
